An American woman has arrived in The Gambia to join her deported husband after selling most of her belongings including her house.
Katrina Jabbi’s husband, Buba was deported in March 2019 based on a judge’s order from 2010. Media reports revealed he entered the USA in 1995 and overstayed his visa.
The couple have three children together, Nalia, 7, Aisha, 3, and Noble who was born shortly after he was removed from America.
Since her husband is barred from being in the United States for 10 years as part of the US Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996, Katrina decided to move to The Gambia to keep the family together.
Her father told journalists: “Breaking up families, it’s wrong. It’s just simply wrong.”
The mother-of-three said she is excited and happy to be in the country. Buba described her as a super mum and wife.
“Thank you. You are brave. Love you. Merciful woman,” he said before kissing her on the lips.
The couple now lives in the Senegambia Strip with their three children.
