In a heart-wrenching revelation to What's On-Gambia, a young mother from Banjul has bravely spoken out about the horrific abuse she endured at the hands of her soldier boyfriend.
She disclosed: "On May 23, I found myself in a heated altercation with my soldier boyfriend. In a fit of rage, he mercilessly struck me in the face, leaving me bruised and battered."
But the horror didn't end there, according to her. When she sought justice by reporting the assault to the police, she was met with further brutality.
"Instead of protection, I was met with hostility," she recounted. "The officer on duty, one Camara, callously disregarded my pleas for help. Instead, he subjected me to his own brand of violence, pushing and kicking me, all because my boyfriend is a soldier."
Tragically, the woman's ordeal didn't stop there.
"I was unjustly detained overnight, left to suffer in silence," she revealed. "And when I begged for a police report to seek medical aid for my injuries, I was denied."
