Barrow wants to appoint Dr. Ceesay as Minister of Higher Education

President Adama Barrow wants to appoint Dr. Ismaila Ceesay as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, a reliable source told What's On-Gambia on Tuesday.

Dr. Ceesay is currently the leader of the opposition party, Citizens' Alliance. His nomination to run for president in the just concluded presidential election was rejected by the Independent Electoral Commission.

Before joining politics, he was a senior lecturer at the University of The Gambia. Many believe he is one of the most popular political leaders among young Gambians.

Our State House insider disclosed: "Sports Minister Bakary Badjie had meetings with Dr. Ceesay about the president's plan to appoint him in his new government. He might join Barrow."

The insider continued: "Barrow wants to have a government of national unity, so he's planning to appoint people outside the NPP."

Some of Dr. Ceesay's supporters were among the last group of opposition sympathizers who endorsed President Adama Barrow shortly before the December 4 election, which he won with a landslide victory.
