The Miss July 22nd Scholarship Pageant has a newly crowned winner: Miss Mariama Jallow, fondly known as Dalanda.
The 21-year-old is a third-year student at the University of The Gambia. She defeated more than 15 contestants from different parts of the country.
The 7th edition of the famous pageant was held on the 19th December, 2015. According to an attendee, it was witnessed by people from different works of life.
Congratulating Dalanda, the Secretary General of the University of The Gambia Students’ Union, Almameh James Manga disclosed that they will be having a special party in Farafenni to celebrate the ‘landmark achievement’.
The newly-crowned queen is a former student of SOS Hermann Gmeiner Technical Senior Secondary School. One of her friends at the university described her as an amazing young woman.
He told What’s On- Gambia: “She's a combination of beauty and brain. Despite being one of the sweetest girls on campus, she's cool, calm and collected. With such a stunning figure coupled with sheer brilliance, she's everyone's wish on campus. She's a twin!”
Going through her Facebook page, one would easily notice Dalanda’s love for Gambian music. Her favorite musicians are controversial rapper, Killa Ace and upcoming star, Jizzle.
Some of the famous Gambian personalities she is following online include opposition leader, Mai Fatty and the First Lady Madam Zenab Jammeh.
