A Busumbala woman, Fatou Sillah allegedly fell into a deep depression and attempted suicide after her semester husband threatened to divorce her over her active presence on social media.

The incident happened last week and Fatou allegedly attempted to kill herself with broken glass that she used to cut herself.

A source disclosed: “Her husband, who lives in Spain, advised her to stop posting photos on social media, but she ignored his advice. He also informed her parents, who tried to counsel her as well, but their efforts were unsuccessful. When the husband began the process of ending their marriage, Fatou threatened to commit suicide.”

The source continued: “She took a broken glass and repeatedly stabbed herself in the thigh and then sent a photo to her husband, who immediately alerted her family, and the police were notified.”

Fatou was found lying in a pool of blood and was promptly taken to the Brikama District Hospital. After being treated and admitted there, she was later discharged and returned to the Busumbala Police Station.
