Come on, Taf! Dalaba Estate houses are outrageously expensive

How many Gambian families can afford a 2-bedroom "slope house" for D1.6m?  Reports reaching What's On-Gambia revealed that the new houses at Taf Global Africa's Dalaba Estate are priced between D1.6m to D3.6m.

This is about the same as the prices of apartments in some parts of Europe.

In a Facebook post that garnered less than 30 likes, Taf Global Africa disclosed their estate has a security access control system, solar street lights, 24 hours security, backup power and water, beautiful landscaping and all-weather roads.

However, a prominent Gambian businessman, who begged for anonymity, told What's On-Gambia: "Their houses are very expensive. Tell me how many Gambians can afford a 2-bedroom house that costs more than D1.5m? "

He continued:" Majority of Gambian households earn less than D10, 000 per month and this is not enough to afford a mortgage at Dalaba."

A UK-based Gambian Sarjo Jarju also said: "I wanted to buy a house there but was advised not to because the houses are expensive. With D3m, I can build a beautiful double-storey house with multiple bedrooms."

In a recent press conference, the CEO of Taf Africa Global argued that they are private developers.
