There are rumours spreading around that President Barrow’s rotary Friday prayers at different mosques is an advice from a trusted marabout.
Since coming to power, he has been performing the Jummah Salat at different mosques within the Greater Banjul Area.
It’s increasingly becoming annoying for many people most of who fall victim of the traffic jams, whenever President Barrow is to perform the Jummah prayers at a location.
According to the online media, Nabanko Newspapers, impeccable sources reaching them revealed that the president was advised by one of his trusted marabouts to “pray 100 Fridays at different mosques countrywide.”
So far, Barrow has performed Friday prayers in more than 12 mosques among them King Fahad Mosque in Banjul where a soldier was arrested for being in possession of a pistol. The president was rushed out of the mosque to his home in Fajara.
The routine has become unbearable for many Gambians and some took to social media to express their frustration.
One Lamin Sey in a recent Facebook post wrote: “So president Barrow is set to perform his Friday prayers at my hood (Latrikunda) and these security personnel are holding the traffic on a one-way lane for hours. Am in a car heading to Westfield and it’s taking almost hour and a half to reach my destination.”
Responding to Lamin’s comment, Tijan Baabu Jow wrote: “I was a victim, 45minutes traffic stopped for King Barrow.”
