“Gambian women are very kind, caring and beautiful.”

These were the words of Richard Leenders – a Dutch journalist, who fell in love with a Gambian woman he met online.

The smitten man, who regularly visits the country, said he loves “chocolate girls”.

“I met her online and I started to see and understand what Gambia is,” he told What’s On-Gambia.

Richard continued: “I have decided to live in The Gambia as soon as I retire here in the Netherlands. I hope in a month or two, so that I can be with my loved one."

In the past ten years, dozens of Dutch men have tied the knot with Gambian women they met during their holiday in the country.
