DJ Pisces allegedly imported Passa Passa into The Gambia

A controversial video showing a teenage girl in Gambia Senior Secondary School uniform performing Passa Passa has left many asking who imported the Jamaican dance craze into the country.

Filmed during a school event held in Banjul, the video has now garnered more than 270,000 views on What’s On-Gambia’s Facebook page.

Our investigation revealed that DJ Pisces is allegedly behind the importation and promotion of Passa Passa among young Gambians.

A source said: “When I was going to senior secondary school, I used to attend his events where he promoted the dance.  I think that’s where many young people saw it and thought it was okay to perform it in public.”

Many Gambians online have expressed grave concern about the increasing popularity of Passa Passa.

According to a lawyer that spoke to What’s On-Gambia, it should be banned immediately because it has no place in The Gambia.

“It has the tendency of corrupting public morals. It's very indecent,” he said.

One of Pisces biggest rivals, DJ Fireman has also condemned the emergence of the controversial Jamaican dance craze.

He wrote on Facebook: “You all know already who is responsible for such in this country. Since 2007 people have been mute.”
