Former Born Africans frontman Dr Shaka has announced his marriage to his British partner, sharing joyful wedding photos on Facebook.

The singer, who once led one of The Gambia’s most popular reggae bands, marked the occasion with an emotional message celebrating his new chapter.

“Congratulations, brother. May God bless you both,” one follower wrote in response to the post.

Another added: “Congratulations to both of you. May Allah guide and protect and bless this union.”

Former bandmates also joined in the celebrations, praising the couple and sending warm wishes. “Huge congratulations to you. This is so beautiful to see. Wishing you both a happy marriage filled with more love, joy, and endless blessings. Looking forward to linking up later.”

Dr Shaka rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Born Africans, the first reggae group in The Gambia to consistently fill major venues both locally and abroad. After years of success, he later relocated to the United Kingdom, where he began a new life and continued his musical journey.

Although Born Africans is no longer active as a group, its members, including Dr Shaka, remain involved in music through individual projects.
