Fajara Baracks soldier, Markus accused of snatching best friend’s toubab wife

Some will eat and drink with you, then behind them su-su pon you.

This line from Bob Marley’s song, Who The Cap Fits, is making sense to a Germany-based Gambian (name withheld), who got the shock of his life when he discovered that his best friend was secretly dating his German wife.

The friend, Lamin Bojang, fondly known as Markus, is a soldier posted at the Fajara Barracks. He is facing a barrage of criticisms for backstabbing his best friend.

A source told What’s On-Gambia that Markus’ relationship with the woman began soon after they were introduced by his friend, who was married to the woman at that time. At first it was platonic, but became sexual.

The Germany-based Gambian never suspected anything between his estranged wife and Markus until when she suddenly ended their marriage.

“The German was in the country in early 2015 to meet Markus and they got married before she left,” said our source.

Markus, who lives with his Gambian wife and children at the Fajara Barracks, is hoping to start a new life in Germany soon.

It is understood that the German woman is not aware that she is a co-wife.

When confronted by his Germany-based friend, the soldier reportedly denied any wrongdoing. He was quoted saying: “She approached me and wanted us to have a relationship. I agreed because she said she was not happy in her marriage.”

The now ex-husband, who has cut off all contacts with Markus, is trying to keep things normal between him and his former wife for the sake of  their children.
