The Gambia has become the first country in the world to appoint a non-citizen as vice president.
Unconfirmed reports reaching What’s On-Gambia revealed that Uganda’s Anne Kansiime has been appointed as the country’s new vice president.
She takes over from Hon. Fatoumatta Tambajang Jallow who was overseeing the office since the inauguration of President Barrow.
“As you already know, there is no Gambian woman that is qualified enough for the job and this is why we have to import from Uganda. Anne Kansiime is a highly regarded woman with many years’ experience working in the Ugandan public sector,” said a State House insider.
The newly-appointed vice president is expected to arrive in the country on Friday. She will be accompanied by her husband.
Welcome to The Gambia, Hon. Kansiime!
