I am sure that there is major sensitization in Africa and the Middle East focusing on how the "back way" to Europe is dangerous. Many died. It is tragic.
This recent tragedy should never have occurred. During slavery Africans were forced to leave their countries and put on ships ...some made it, some did not. Yet now it seems like Africans are willing to risk it all to travel to the same lands to find happiness, freedom and jobs knowing that they may die on the way.
People just want to work and take care of their families. It is a basic human right. I am not sure why our leaders do not see that there is a problem. Lack of jobs. Poverty. Political instability. We know what the root of the problem is.
Fix it, African Leaders. You work for the people. Do your jobs or let someone else try.
For my brothers and sisters in Africa, stay safe and come to the West the right way or stay in Africa and demand that your governments create more jobs and programs to alleviate the stress and poverty.
Governments need to stop the political mumbo jumbo and take these issues seriously.
May the souls of the deceased rest in peace!
Moving on to another topic. Xenophobia. (I did not even know that word existed until all this started). So much hatred in South Africa! I really cannot click on any more videos of South Africans setting their fellow Africans on fire. It is barbaric and upsetting. Classic case of the oppressed becoming the oppressor. This is so cruel and bad for a country and I doubt South Africa will ever recover from this.
The culprit: poverty, lack of education, unemployment of the youth and the after effects of Apartheid. ..And of course the inability of our leaders to focus on what the people need.
I cannot believe that the government has not put a stop to it. Again just talk and more talk by an African leader. What is happening is villainous and just pure evil. Protest of course. You have the right to... but murder?
The world sees everything. It’s recorded. So now you hate your fellow Africans? Then you will stand alone. Africans hold grudges. But have you forgotten how it felt when you were oppressed and killed during Apartheid?
But of course, I am thinking the people doing this are young and dumb. The South African struggle, Apartheid probably means nothing to them.
My question is, how will you live with yourself when this is all over?
I commend the sensible South Africans who have come out to protest against the xenophobic behavior of their countrymen. They are smart enough to know that there is a problem.
This is not what Mandela envisioned for his country, I am sure. Rest in peace. Anyway I hope the people in those videos setting people on fire, know that their day will come and they are not going to be free for long.
May the souls of the deceased rest in peace!
