Fury as Barrow’s cheerleader claims there is a shortage of single men

President Adama Barrow’s cheerleader, Hamat Bah has caused fury after suggesting that The Gambia is experiencing a shortage of marriageable men.

The tourism and culture minister made this bizarre claim during a recently held Islamic conference in Bijilo.

According to him, the country’s young women are feeling lonelier than ever before. He appealed to the hundreds of Gambian migrants in European countries like Italy and Germany to return home and marry as many of them as they could.

Facebook users were quick to slam Hon Bah as a lunatic.

One Babucarr Sanneh wrote: “I think he is mentally ill. Why is he always talking trash? We don't need this kind of people to be ministers in our beloved nation.”

Sang Paul Mendy added: “I don't believe this is said by Hamat Bah!! No one in his right mind will encourage men to marry more than one wife nowadays!”

Hamat Bah is one of the key members of the coalition government. He is widely believed to be the president’s cheerleader.
