An ecstatic Ida Bidwell announced on Facebook on Sunday that she was named among the 100 Most Distinguished African Women at the 2021 Women Power Conference.

The businesswoman and founder of Face of Beauty Gambia told What's On-Gambia: "I was awarded for empowering young people and breaking down barriers for women and girls."

One of her former schoolmates, Ameera Fofana was among the first to congratulate her on social media. She wrote: " Ida Bidwell doing it big, congratulations sis. Hard work pays and it is evident in your relentless pursuit of success. Keep doing what you do and never mind the noise in the market as it comes with the territory of success. You have inspired many young people to follow their dreams."

Paradise TV's Tima la Waato also congratulated Ida writing: "Is coming home!!!! Our award is here. Congratulations, baby girl."

The award ceremony was held on October 29 at the Sheraton Abuja Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
