Gambian migrant in Finland fearful after finding apartment windows shattered

A Gambian migrant living on the Åland Islands, Finland has lodged a police report after he found his apartment windows shattered, as if hit with gunshots.

Seedy Fofana was away with friends when the attack occurred two weeks ago.

He told What’s On-Gambia: “When I came home I was shocked to find broken glass all over the place. I called the police immediately.”

The migrant from Faji Kunda became more worried when he found something resembling a bullet inside the apartment, but the police are yet to determine whether the shattered windows were hit by gun shots.

“The police were very slow in their investigation, but now they are taking it seriously after being pressurized by the community. The person behind it should be arrested, to ensure that incidents like this don’t become tragedies tomorrow,” said Seedy.

He moved to Åland five years ago and recently became a Finnish citizen. Seedy is one of the island’s most renowned African migrants and has once been a candidate in local elections.
