Gambians congratulate Leicester City on their English Premier League win

Leicester City has won the English Premier League title after Chelsea drew with Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The draw left Spurs short on points, leaving the glory for Leicester as they claimed the crown for the first time in their 132-year history.

And hundreds of Gambians took to social media to congratulate the English team. Former Standard Newspaper columnist, Latir Carr described the victory as a big surprise.

He wrote: “Congrats Leicester!! So a team that most people outside The United Kingdom couldn’t pronounce until this season have won the EPL.”

Bob Trawally, a famous football commentator on Facebook, added: “If ‪Leicesterdoesn’t inspire you, you’re missing out on one of the greatest lessons of our lifetime! It takes guts, balls and belief to succeed!”

Norway-based musician, Singateh also wrote:” Congrats Leicester City! New Kings of England! Coming for the parade.”

According to the BBC, Leicester’s victory is one of the greatest sporting stories of all time.
