An 18-year-old German girl is in The Gambia for the first time to volunteer on a medium-sized farm located in Sanyang, Kombo South.
Lara Presser, who’s from a small town in Germany, arrived in the country on the 15th April to work as a farm assistant on Kankanba farm.
In an interview with What’s On-Gambia, she disclosed: “I arrived here on the 15th April and I will be leaving on the 13th May.
“I chose to volunteer in The Gambia because I heard a lot of interesting things about the country. It’s small and really peaceful. I want to find more about the different cultures during my stay.”
Lara, who is planning to study cognitive science in university, is the only female volunteer at Kankanba right now.
“My job mainly involves harvesting cashew nuts. We are five on the farm and majority are Gambians.”
