A grandfather in Serre Kunda (name withheld) has been accused of impregnating a 16-year-old Grade 9 student of Latri Kunda German Upper Basic School.

The 47-year-old grandfather is said to be very close to the girl’s family.

“They all live in the same compound on Papa Sarr Street. Everyone was shocked that he was sleeping with a child,” said a neighbor, Saihou Drammeh.

When asked whether the matter was reported to the police, he responded: “No, no it was not reported. The girl’s family wants to keep it a secret.”

Saihou added: “The girl was a virgin. A very innocent school child. He should be arrested because what he did is against the laws of the country.”

He disclosed the 16-year-old student is 3-5 months pregnant. She is still going to school while the family decides whether to pull her out of school.
