GTBank are the champions of the 2017 edition of the Late Governor Famara Jatta Inter-Bank Football Tournament.

GTBank won the game 3-1 in a penalty shootout following a goalless regulation time.

The Managing Director and CEO of the bank, Mr Bolaji Ayodele in a brief statement thanked the Orange Boys for delivering the trophy for the second time in five years.

He noted that to win the tournament without a defeat is an indication that the team has lived up to “excellence” which is one of the 7 Orange Rules of the bank.

En route to the finals, GTBank drew 1 all with Trust Bank in the first game before beating Skye Bank 2-1 in the second game. In the quarter finals, the Orange Boys’ victims were Arab Gambia Islamic Bank who fought frantically to earn a goalless draw in regulation time but bowed after a 4-2 score in the ensuing penalty shootout.

GTBank humbled Standard Chartered Bank 1 nil in the semi-finals to book a spot in the finals. The trophy is the second for GTBank having won the 2012 edition.
