Introducing Gambian afrobeat sensation, Libra’tor!

Libra’tor is a Gambian afrobeat musician that was born and raised in Brikama, West Coast Region.

He developed love for music in the mid-90s after joining Rebellion the Recallers’ famous crew, Inspired Ones.

“My inspiration for music comes from love and everything that evolves around it. It gives me great joy, accomplishment and fulfilment to see people happy, feel love and entertained. Love is what inspires my music,” he said.

According to Libra’tor, music is art. It gives the freedom to express yourself creatively.

“Music is powerful. It can bridge gaps, cross boundaries, elevate the soul and free up the mind. It heals, it maintains, it consoles and above all music is a therapy to the world.”

The Brikama-born afrobeat star starting performing on stages in 2002, opening for popular musicians like the Dancehall Masters.

“I spent nearly 17 years researching and finding myself musically. Yes, it took me that long because I want to make sure when I step out I do it right.

“My genre and style of music is afrobeat/afropop. Although I can do other genre like reggae dancehall and RnB but I want to base my brand on afrobeats because that's what am fully comfortable with. With time I will gradually fuse my sound with other genres.

“I’m based in Michigan USA, with a very competitive afrobeat market. Due to my hard work and consistency, I am among the top 5 biggest artists that are controlling the air waves. Been on major shows and opened for couple of Nigerian artists.”

Libra’tor has so far released more than seven singles, which are doing well online.

“I am currently working on a 20 track exclusive afrobeat compilation concept. It's going to be a mixture of afropop , afroRnB and afrodancehall.”
