When Haruna Jammeh's daughter heard how her father was brutally killed by junglers, she felt sad and hurt, but she's also ready to fight for justice.
"Your killers happen to be your own brothers who are to protect you and protect the country but instead they killed you and not knowing a day like this will come. Your brothers who you have helped and given food to eat," wrote Isatou Jammeh on Facebook.
Her father was former President Jammeh's cousin. Haruna was killed after falling out with Jammeh, who now lives in exile in Equatorial Guinea.
Appearing before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC), a former jungler, Omar Jallow confessed he participated in the murder of Isatou's father on the outskirts of Kanilai.
The young woman, who was very close to her father, said: "We all thought we had healed and could handle whatever happened not knowing we are as weak as deadwood. Our wounds are new again after hearing how they killed you."
She continued: "Is this The Gambia, we know. Ya Allah help us through these moments and see us through."
Isatou is the coordinator at the Center for Victims of Human Rights Violations, which was set up in 2017 to support and collect testimonies from survivors of the varied abuses carried out under Jammeh.
