Jarama! Fulbe Africa’s fifth anniversary a huge success

On the 24th December, Fulbe Africa celebrated its fifth anniversary. Over 2000 attendees, including prominent Gambians, gathered at the Kairaba Beach Hotel to support the annual event.

Famous radio presenter, Hulay Jaw launched the evening program by highlighting the importance of Fulbe Africa’s mission which is to promote and preserve the Pulaar culture and tradition. 

Speaking to What’s On-Gambia, the chairman of the organisation, Ousman Sowe said: “The event was graced by senior government officials, prominent among them the Director General of the State Intelligence Services (SIS), Ousman Sowe and the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, Dr Cherno Omar Barry. The leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), Mamma Kandeh was also in attendance.”

According to Ousman, this year’s Fulbe Africa anniversary is the biggest ever attracting more than 2000 people from different parts of the country and neighbouring Senegal.

“We want to thank all our partner institutions, individuals, associations,  artists, cultural troops and members of the organisation who worked tirelessly to make it happen,” he said.

Fulbe Africa is a registered apolotical and non-revenue generating organisation that aims to promote and preserve Pulaar culture and tradition, promote and develop the Pulaar language, foster unity and understanding amongst Fulbe and promote good cultural and traditional practices, norms and values.
