Jola men are the most loyal to their TOUBAB partners

Have you noticed that Jola men are the most loyal to their white partners?

Unlike Gambian men from other ethnic groups, Jola men always stand by their TOUBAB queens through thick and thin.

Ansu Badjie is from Bwiam in Foni Kansala. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2001, where he met his Bulgarian wife, Yani.  Their marital life is still going rock solid.

In a chat with What's On-Gambia, the Bwian-born, who holds a Master's Degree in Public Health, said: "I met my wife 11 years ago. She's the most special person in my life."

Ansu never skips a chance to publicly acknowledge his love for Yani. The couple have two children together.

Being the open-minded guy that he is, Ansu has never pressured his wife to convert to Islam. The couple have huge respect for each other's culture, and their children have neutral names. The name of their daughter is Yolanda.

Sarjo Tamba, a Gambian Jola man in London added: "Loyalty and honesty are sacramental in the Jola culture. We love our women!"
