Life after 2026: Barrow is building a waterfront mansion in Fajara

By Tumani C

With construction underway on President Adama Barrow's multi-million Dalasi retirement home in Fajara, speculation is swirling that the 59-year-old is making preparations for life after the State House.

The lavish new residence, located near tycoon Muhammed Jah's property, comes on the heels of last year's controversial "Ex-Presidents Bill" guaranteeing former presidents plenty of luxurious perks, including a monthly pension equivalent to the sitting President’s salary.

Will Barrow run for a third term in 2026? This is the question many Gambians are asking.

Just months ago, his close ally and friend Macky Sall in neighboring Senegal decided against defying term limits after massive protests from opposition supporters.

While no official decision has been announced, Barrow may be taking cues from Sall's struggles.
