Widely regarded as one of the wealthiest Gambian women in the United States, Mbalo Darboe recently turned heads with her stunning golden handbag, reportedly valued at over D1.4 million.

Mbalo showcased this luxurious accessory at a wedding also attended by popular TikToker and entrepreneur Fatou Jawneh, who traveled from Italy to the U.S. for the occasion.

In a video that has since garnered over 450,000 views, Fatou revealed that Mbalo is the first Gambian woman to own an authentic golden handbag. 

According to Fatou, the bag was purchased for $21,000 — over D1.4 million.

One of Fatou’s followers commented, "Who is she? Please reply, sis! She is so beautiful, Mashallah. May God bless her."

Although most comments were positive, admiring Mbalo's elegance, one TikTok user expressed a different view, suggesting that the money spent on the handbag could have been used to support needy families.
