Modou Lamin Ceesay:My name is Modou Lamin from Foni Bintang. I am in Grade 8. My dad passed away when I was two years old. My mum is a rice farmer and she pays for my education.

Are you the smartest kid in your village?

(Laughs) Is that what you heard? Since primary one I always take first position in my class.

How do you do that?

I study hard. I study a lot and I like approaching my teachers for help. I also do ask for help from my classmates.

From your classmates? But you are the best in the class.

(Laughs) I don’t know all. May be there are things they know that I don’t. No man is perfect.

What are your hobbies?

I like reading, playing football and chatting with friends.

What do you want to be in the future?

I want to study medicine and become the country’s minister of health one day (laughs).

Describe your village, Bintang.

It’s a historical place with a lot to offer visitors. We have festivals that are aimed at promoting and protecting our traditions.
