Gambian women are facing a harrowing time due to the acute shortage of men that they could marry and start families.
The male population of the country has significantly dwindled as a result of the increasing number of young men leaving the country in search of better opportunities in Europe.
One Oustass Ebrima Njie that spoke to What’s On-Gambia said: “I am planning to marry a second wife. That is the only solution to the current crisis. Most of the boys have disappeared through the back way.”
According to him, men are becoming a rare commodity in the country.
Some women, who are desperate to settle down, are now joining social media sites like Facebook, with the hope that they will find someone to tie the knot with.
