Muslim Senior Secondary School female team have won back to back the GTBank Principals title after beating tournament debutants Gambia Senior Secondary School 2 nil in the finals played recently at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Kaddy Bayo scored the opener before the tournament female best player Ola Buwaro, scored a stunner to make it 2. Lidia Prierra took home the best goal keeper award. Fatou Dukureh of third place Bottrop Senior won the leading goal scorer award.
In the male category, Essau Senior Secondary School defeated fellow tournament debutants Mahad 1 nil to claim the title. Essau’s Matarr Saine was awarded tournament male best player following his incredible performances. Matarr Sidibeh of Armitage Senior Secondary School scored 4 goals to win the leading goal scorer award and Salifu Bojang of Mahad won the best goal keeper award.
The football tournament for Senior Secondary Schools is organized by The Gambia Secondary Schools Football Association in partnership with The Gambia Football Federation and sponsored by GTBank Gambia Limited. Eight male teams and eight female teams compete in the annual championship.
The prizes at stake in both categories are D100, 000.00, D75, 000.00 and 50, 000 cash prizes for winners, runners-up 1 and runners up 2 respectively. Winners are also presented gold, silver and bronze medals.
All 16 teams were provided jerseys, balls, whistles, among many other items.
