Do you remember Sambou Darboe?
Well, What’s On-Gambia once wrote about his fight with the Swedish social services after they placed his 17-year-old biracial daughter into foster care.
But the Sweden-based Gambian, after all, seems to have a streak of bad luck with women.
He is speaking out again – this time about his 14-year-old son he has never met.
According to him, the boy’s mom, Kujeh Yaffa, left him heartbroken after a very brief relationship.
“We were introduced by a woman that I know here in Sweden. Kujeh was living in England and so I travelled there to meet her for the first time. I liked her when I saw her. She was an illegal immigrant and I promised to help her get Swedish residential permit to join me in Sweden,” said Sambou who contacted What’s On-Gambia.
He revealed that a few months after their meeting, he received a call from Kujeh informing him she was pregnant with his child.
“I was so happy about it. But she never called me again until when the child was born. I took a flight to witness the naming ceremony. But guess what? When I arrived at Stansteds Airport in London, she refused to pick my calls. I had no idea where she was staying and so I returned to Sweden.”
Sambou, who was a former police officer in The Gambia, branded Kujeh a deceit, and said he felt used.
“She was not honest to me. All she wanted was a child that she can use to apply for a British residential permit. I was used!”
The former police officer said he is still unable to meet his 14-year-old son as the mother wouldn’t let him.
“Three years ago, I located Kujeh on Facebook and asked about my son. I spoke to him briefly and after that we lost contact again.”
Sambou is appealing to his ex-lover to allow him bond with his son.
