He is a true Gambian, who was born and brought up in the Greater Banjul Area. His father, Willie Carr, is a famous veteran educationist in the country.
Yet, Latirr claims that he is often mistaken for a foreigner because of his ‘njak’ looking features.
Last weekend, he revealed in his weekly column that he was recently pulled over by an immigration officer, who wasn’t sure if he is Gambian.
Latirr wrote: “He spent a few seconds looking at my face as if he was trying to figure out whether I was worth the trouble. I expected the worst!”
He went on to say it wasn’t his first time being stopped by an immigration officer.
“I had been mistaken for a foreigner so many times but Mr. Immigration Officer was full of surprises; he let me go!”
Latirr, who was recently named among the most influential young Gambians by What’s On-Gambia, added: “No amount of Wolof seems to be able to save me from their wrath.”
