Mystery shrouds Vice President Joof’s health condition

Vice President Dr. Badara Joof has not been seen in public since his return from the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, fueling rumors that he is “very sick”.

According to sources, Dr. Joof left The Gambia in December to get treatment in India for an undisclosed issue.

But speaking to Jollof News, an online media outlet, the spokesperson at the vice president's office, Sarjo Camara-Singateh denied any knowledge of the vice president's current health condition.

“I am away on leave and could not know what exactly is happening at the office,” she said.

The government spokesperson, Ebrima Sankareh, also told the Jollof News that he was unaware of Dr. Joof's rumored sickness.

Dr. Badara Joof was appointed Vice president in 2017 shortly after the presidential election.

During his first meeting with senior civil servants, including his colleagues in cabinet, he said: "The civil service is the engine of ideas, the engine of programs, (and) the engine of projects. But also the implementers of those projects, programs and ideas. It cannot be business as usual in the civil service. We must deliver to the Gambian people."
