The Gambia has for many years been aspiring to become the Singapore of Africa, but it appears the Gambia Police Force (GPF) have already gotten there before the country.
Did you notice that the new police uniform was designed and supplied by a company thousands of miles away in Singapore?
The police shunning of Made-in-Gambia for Made-in-Singapore has been confirmed when the director of Apparels Premiums Specialist Pte Ltd., Linda Limon, took to Facebook to thank the GPF for doing business with her.
“We are proud to be suppliers of Gambia Police Force,” she wrote.
What’s On-Gambiawas unable to establish how Linda’s company was selected and how much of tax payers’ money was used to foot the bill.
The Gambian fashion industry has seen significant growth in the past years, with young designers sprouting almost every day. Some of them were trained abroad and attended reputable universities.
One of them told What’s On-Gambia that GPF’s decision to snub them is another blow to their industry, which is beginning to gain international recognition.
