Omar Colley set to seal move to Italy worth more than D300m

Gambian defender Omar Colley is set to complete a move to Italian Serie A team, Sampdoria worth more than THREE HUNDRED MILLION DALASIS (D300m) in fees and wages.

That would make him the second most expensive Gambian international behind Modou Barrow, who is currently playing for Championship club Reading.

According to Gambia Sports, the 25-year-old was in Italy last week for a medical at a hospital in Genoa. He is now waiting to get the go-ahead from his Belgian team, K.R.C Genk.

Omar, who was born and brought up in Lamin, started his career with Wallidan FC and later moved to Real De Banjul, where he helped the team become First Division champions in 2012.

He moved to Europe in2013 after signing a two-year contract with Finland’s KuPS. When his contract was nearing the end, his club president described him as “perhaps our best foreign signing ever".

Omar later moved to Sweden, where he was signed by Djurgården. His current team, KRC Genk bought him in 2016 for 2 million Euros.
