Awa Jobs is one of the most famous presenters on GRTS. She’s tall and smooth-skinned and her smiles are infectious. Yet all these credentials were not seductive enough – at least in the eyes of US consular officers - to earn her a US visitor’s visa.

According to a reliable source, Awa has recently been denied visa by the US Embassy in Banjul because they were afraid she might not return to The Gambia at the end of her visit.

A source said: “Billahi, I heard her application was rejected. She was not happy about it.”

Awa, according to our source, was surprised by the US embassy’s decision. She is one of the most senior female presenters at GRTS.

But the famous presenter is not an exception. Gambian celebrities are finding it very difficult to obtain visa to Europe or America. T Smallz and Bai Buba were also denied US visa not long ago.
