Security concerns kept Fatou Camara from travelling to Banjul

The much-awaited arrival of Fatou Camara has been cancelled once again over alleged security concerns.

The former GRTS presenter, who was in Senegal, last week, was expected in the country by her legion of fans.  However, sources revealed to What’s On-Gambia that her visit was cancelled at the last moment due to security concerns.

Fatou was Jammeh’s press secretary until her unceremonious dismissal and charging at a Banjul court for spreading false news with Freedom Newspaper in the USA.

After fleeing the country, the famous journalist started her own online radio to mobilise Gambians and the international community against her former boss. Many believed she contributed a lot in bringing an end to Jammeh’s 22-year old rule.

Some of the former president’s supporters have threatened to attack her anytime she sets her foot on Gambian soil   from the USA, where she resides with her three children.

This is the second time Fatou’s visit has been cancelled. However, sources close to her in Atlanta revealed that her asylum application in the USA is in jeopardy since Jammeh was ousted and she now has no grounds to seek for asylum and these last minute cancellations are excuses she is manufacturing to bolster her pending asylum application.
