Senegalese presidential candidate, Ousmane Sonko has denied that former President Jammeh donated money to his campaign, accusing Macky Sall and his campaign team of peddling lies to gain political mileage.
Addressing supporters at Place de l'Obélisque in Dakar, he said: “They are doing everything possible to drag my name through the mud.”
Sonko continued: “I am sure you heard them accusing me of being a member of MFDC. They also accused me of receiving money from Yahya Jammeh for my presidential campaign.”
He claimed Macky and his campaign team are using “dishonest journalists” to spread outrageous lies to dirty his image.
About Ousmane Sonko
The 44-year-old is the youngest candidate in the Senegalese presidential race. Sonko was born in Thies but spent most of his childhood in Casamance.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louise, Senegal.
Sonko established his party in 2014 and was elected into the National Assembly of Senegal in 2017. The young politician is right now the most popular opposition political leader.
