SubhanAllah! Mathew Jallow says there is no reward for fasting

Discredited and controversial journalist Matthew Jallow is at his usual self-stirring the pot, this time though on the sensitive topic of religion.

On the eve of the Holy Month of Ramadan when Muslims around the world were gearing up for yet another month of fasting, Matthew took to Facebook reducing the observation of the fourth pillar of Islam as self-harm with no reward for it hereafter.

Matthew, a nominal Christian of the Catholic denomination, said when our forefathers embraced Islam they don't know the health hazards involved in abstaining from food and water from dawn to sunset. He even suggests that fasting could result in premature death.

He wrote of fasting: "What may kill the person who fasts during the fast month or after it; dehydration, hunger, too much sugar consumption, fatigue, exhaustion and other serious medical reactions." He went further to insult the intelligence of yesteryears folks by saying "In the old days when fasting was introduced, those primitive believers of religion knew nothing about these medical conditions that can develop due to fasting and thirst."

The most demeaning was saved until last when he said that there is no reward for fasting, every promised reward one is told or learned from the scriptures is nothing but "false hope." He cruelly rounded up "from the point of science, you're better off not fasting. You'll derive absolutely nothing from fasting, except false hope and putting your very life in danger due mainly to the intolerable punishment on your body."

He deliberately ignored, even when it was brought to his attention, that fasting is for healthy adults. The sick are exempted from fasting, provided they are able to feed (provide iftar) a poor person throughout the holy month. It is scientifically proven that fasting is actually good for the body, there are lots of research documents out there but this septuagenarian is not interested because it does not suit his agenda.

Matthew, a relic of the bygone era will stop at nothing to be relevant again (if he ever was). He constantly courts controversy to be in the limelight, this time though at the expense of worshipping Muslims.
