Sugar daddy, who allegedly had sex with underage girls, to face judge

William Bright is in court accused of sexually abusing underage girls.

The police started its investigation of the sugar daddy after receiving reports that he unlawfully and indecently assaulted five girls in the months of August, September and October 2014.

Mr. Bright, who last week appeared before magistrate Samsidine Conteh, faces four counts of rape, abduction, defilement of girls under 18 and indecent assault on female.

According to the prosecutor, he unlawfully detained the girls before having sex with them. The alleged abuse took place at different locations within the Greater Banjul Area.

Reports reaching What’s On-Gambia revealed that Mr. Bright used Facebook to target teenage girls. It is believe there may be other victims who are afraid of coming out.

One of his many female Facebook friends told our reporter: “He added me, but I don’t know him and never chatted with him.”

William Bright is a Gambian that studied abroad. A friend described him as a pan African with a difference. According to him, the accused rapist is among the few Gambian intellectuals that refused to stay in the West.

Wealthy Gambians preying on vulnerable young girls is becoming a huge problem in the country. They lure them into sex using money or promising them employment.

Mr. Bright’s case has been transferred to the Special Criminal Court in Banjul.  If found guilty, he could spend many years in jail.
