Since he was declared the winner of the presidential election, many Gambians urged him to crack down on vehicles without license plates.
But it seems it is going take a while before incoming president, Adama Barrow orders the police to impound all the vehicles moving around incognito.
The newly-elected president was spotted last week getting out of a car with no number plate. Was he granted a special leave by the Inspector General of Police (IGP)?
A police insider revealed that the traffic laws in the country don’t distinguish between common citizens and political leaders when it comes to display of number plates on vehicles.
“He broke the law. Simple!” said the insider, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
This comes at a time when many are expressing concern over the presence of vehicles without number plates on the roads. Some of them were allegedly used by the National Intelligence Agency to arrest critics of the government.
