Located in the Central River Region, Kudang is arguably the most educated village in The Gambia.
The village, which Solicitor General Cherno Marenah calls home, is widely believed to have the highest percentage of graduates or professional degree holders, some of them working at the United Nations.
Here are some of the well-educated Kudangkas:
Mariatou Sisay: A former head girl at Methodist Academy, she is the country’s newest doctor of pharmacy after bagging a Pharm.D from the University of Memphis in the USA. Her late father, Phoday Saikouba Sisay was the managing director of Gamcel.
Awa Sisay Sabally: Recently nominated to the Constitutional Review Commission, she is first Gambian constitutional lawyer. Awa once served as a minister under Jammeh.
Dr M.L Kurang: He is a highly respected gynaecologist. Dr Kurang is the owner of Fajara Clinic.
Lare Sisay: He works with the UNDP as a resident representative in Africa. Lare was once Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service under Jammeh.
Dr Yaya Marenah: He is a doctor based in Atlanta, USA.
Dr Saikou Sabally: He is currently the director at Hands on Care in Brikama. Dr Sabally once worked with the Medical Research Council (MRC).
