The truth about President Barrow Youths for National Development

You may have heard about the inauguration of President Barrow Youths for National Development, which was held recently as part of celebrations marking the one-year anniversary of the president’s election victory.

Held at the famous Buffer Zone in Tallinding, thousands of supporters, most of them young people, turned out for the event, which was graced by Jaliba Kuyateh who was showered with money by cabinet ministers.

However, a What’sOn-Gambia investigation has revealed that President Barrow Youths for National Development was established mainly to help the Gambian leader to boost his popularity among millennials.

The organisation’s executive consists predominantly of young people from different parts of the country. One of them is the CEO of Fire Protect Gambia, Babucarr Bob Keita, who was very outspoken on social media during the political impasse.

The vice president of the President Barrow Youths for National Development is one Ansu Singateh. According to our source, he works for Africell and was present when the organisation first met the Gambian leader to acquaint him with their planned activities.

Our source said: “The President Barrow Youths for National Development is a mobilisation tool because the future of the Coalition hangs in the balance. Initially, Barrow tried to distance himself from the organisation but he was allegedly advised by his family to embrace it.”

The source added that the president’s wives, especially the First Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Jallow, are actively involved in the management of the organisation.

“Barrow and his family do not trust the United Democratic Party, where they have very little influence,” said our source.

Will the President Barrow Youths for National Development be later transformed into a political party? Let’s wait and see what happens!
