The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has denied they paid Salam Diallo for a campaign song.
This comes after rumors emerged online that the country’s newest political party gave the Senegalese star 20m CFA to help them set the tone at their rallies.
In an interview with What’s On-Gambia, GDC’s spokesperson, Alh. Essa Jallow flatly denied it saying they have no links with Salam.
“Mamma Kandeh himself was not aware of the song. It was brought to his notice when it was picked up on WhatsAPP. I don’t believe Salam was given that kind of money by any party member because it's not our priority,” he said.
The former GRTS presenter continued: “The rumours are coming from our detractors and they are hell-bent on doing everything to derail us. In fact, this is the second song coming from Senegal. The first artist I don't even know him but he is said to be the late Ndongo Lo's brother.”
A GDC supporter, who is very close to the party executive, said MammaKandeh has a huge fan base in Senegal.
