Tobacco Road boys explain why they want to join Ukranian army to fight Putin

A group of young men in Tobacco Road, Banjul said they want to travel to Ukraine to join the Ukrainian army and fight the Russian invasion.

One of them, Cherno Sillah told What's On-Gambia: "We are fully ready to fight for peace. I mean my colleagues and I are ready to go. We are ready to die for the world to have peace. Some of us are students, taxi drivers and businessmen."

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed on Sunday, February 27, that he was setting up an international legion of volunteers for foreigners wishing to join their army in its fight against Russian forces.

"Everyone who wants to join the defence of security in Europe in Europe and the world may come and stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukrainians against the invaders of the 21st century," he said.

Cherno vowed that if they are provided with visa and air tickets, they will leave for Kyiv to fight against the Russians.

"We all have passports. We are ready to go," he told What's On-Gambia.

The Tobacco Road boys who want to join President Volodymyr Zelensky's army include Abubacarr Conteh, Alagie Jallow, Sulayman Mbye and Omar Conteh.
