A Gambian footballer Alieu Darboe has called on Gambians to give peace a chance ahead of tomorrow’s general election.
Gambians head to the polls tomorrow, December 1st, to elect a new president.
The incumbent Yahya Jammeh and two other challengers will be facing off in what many Gambia watchers describe as the country’s tightest.
The Gambia international in a Facebook post said: “Whatever might happen Dec 1st, all I pray for is Peace. We have a very blessed country - which you will know when you leave and visit other countries.”
He added: “Whatever the outcome may be, kairo ye soto.”
Darboe’s message was warmly received by his many followers.
Some have praised him for stepping forward to sue for peace at a time when it is most needed.
