After weeks of brutal political campaigning, things are now down to Gambian voters.
Tomorrow, they are going deciding who will be the president for the next five years.
The election is expected to attract a lot of media attention, and could smash records as a lot of Gambians are expected to vote.
An Independent Electoral Commissioner (IEC) insider said he believes this year’s presidential election could break the record for the number of voters.
The 2011 presidential election had a voter turnout of 58.8 percent.
Here are some important things that voters need to know about the election:
1. Polls are open from 8am to 5pm tomorrow
2. 886,578 registered voters
3. There are 1422 polling stations. You must vote where you registered.
4. The candidates are: Alh. Dr. Yahya A.J.J Jammeh Babili Mansa of the ruling party, APRC, Mamma Kandeh of the GDC and Adama Barrow of the coalition.
5. It is a crime to impersonate someone else while voting.
6. The counting of the votes will start immediately polls close.
7. The chairman of the IEC will announce the results from the Election House along the Bertil Harding Highway. It is not yet confirmed if GRTS will broadcast live.
