The owner of Chili’s Sport Bar and Restaurant has committed suicide, apparently due to financial hardship.
Lebanese-born, Husain Ghadder hanged himself in his home in Kerr Sering. Sources told Daily Observer that he was depressed as he was under huge debt.
The police spokesman, ASP David Kujabi told journalists: “The police had received a telephone call informing us that the deceased hung himself. The police visited the scene and the deceased was rushed to Kanifing Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”
Just few days after news of Husain’s death started spreading, Chili’s posted a message on their Facebook page thanking mourners and sympathizers.
“We would like to thank everyone for their respects and support through this very difficult time. The restaurant is currently closed until further notice. Again thank you for your support, from the management and all BBQ Chili’s staff.”
What’s On-Gambia is still unable to confirm when exactly Husain took his own life, but it was between 24-27 September.
Husain was one of the famous Lebanese men in the restaurant business. He started Chili’s Sport Bar and Restaurant in 2011, and according to him, the aim was to provide a place for people to spend their time, relax and mingle with others.
