What happened to women solidarity? Fatou Camara rebukes Dr. Isatou Touray for entering presidential ring

Fatou Camara has launched a scathing attack on Dr Isatou Touray, describing her decision to contest in the December presidential elections as a “distraction” and not in the best interest of the opposition.

She made the surprising comments on Monday during her Today Show on Fatu Radio. According to the controversial journalist, Dr. Touray’s timing is not right.

Dr. Isatou Touray is the first Gambian woman to throw a hat into the presidential ring. She is vying for the country’s top job as an independent candidate.

The Brikama-based gender activist is renowned for defending women’s rights and promoting gender equality. She is the Executive Director of The Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices Affecting Women and Girls (GAMCOTRAP).

Dr. Touray shocked many when she announced her decision to run for the presidency at the eleventh hour. Already, there are calls among political activists in the Diaspora, who wants to micromanage the opposition from the comfort of their living rooms in Europe and America, for her to throw her weight behind the UDP.

One of them is Fatou Camara, who is known for stirring controversies and throwing shades at politicians on the ground. She rebuked the GAMCOTRAP boss for running against the established opposition parties.

According to her, Dr. Touray’s last minute decision cannot create any impact in the political ring. She appealed to her to join the UDP.
