Isatou Njie-Saidy

Vice President

She was vice president for 20 years from 1997 to 2017, and was Gambia’s first female to occupy the second highest political office.  Since Jammeh’s departure, Isatou has shrunk quietly into retirement.

Alieu Jammeh

Minister of Youth and Sports

He is the Director of University Relations at the University of The Gambia. Alieu is also pursuing a PhD in Public Administration.

Sheriff Bojang

Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure

He was among the first ministers to resign from the Jammeh government during the political impasse. Sheriff is the publisher of Standard Newspaper, which is now the biggest newspaper in the country.

Neneh MacDouall-Gaye

Minister of Foreign Affairs

The former GRTS news reader is rarely seen in public nowadays. Neneh is living a very private life.

Bala Garba Jahumpa

Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure

Musa Amul Nyassi

Minister of Local Government and Lands

Unlike most of his colleagues, he is still actively involved in Gambian politics. Amul is the National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala.

Abdou Kolley

Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs

He held a series of cabinet positions before his appointment as the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs in 2015. Kolley is living a quiet life in Kembujeh, Kombo Central.

Lamin Nyabally

Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service

He also appeared before the Janneh Commission. Nyabally was also the Minister of Presidential Affairs and overseer of the Ministry of Fisheries.

Pa Ousman Jarjue

Minister of Environment, Climate Change, Forestry, Water Resources and Parks and Wildlife

He was widely believed to be one of the most intelligent ministers in the Jammeh cabinet. Pa Ousman now works with Green Climate Fund.

Omar Sey

Minister of Health and Social Welfare

He was once linked to the Gambia Democratic Party. Omar is also living a quiet life.

Dr Aboubacar Senghore

Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology

A former senior lecturer in law, governance and international politics at the University of The Gambia, Dr Senghore is rarely seen in public nowadays.

Ismaila Sanyang

Minister of Agriculture

He was appointed a few months before the presidential election that brought Jammeh’s 22- year-old rule to an end. Ismaila is also living a quiet life.

Abdoulie Jobe

Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment

He was the bad boy in Jammeh’s cabinet. Jobe was among the senior Banjulians that endorsed Ebou Faye in the Banjul mayoral election.

Mama Fatima Singateh
