Since he was elected as the 3rd president of The Gambia, President Adama Barrow has amassed a group of aides and advisers. Some have been with him for years, while others are relatively new.
Here’s a breakdown of some of the people who might have a hand in shaping what his next government would like.
Alkali Conteh
A long time Barrow confident, Alkali was living in the USA for many years before returning home in 2017 to join the new government. He's still one of the president's closest advisers.
Dou Sanno
He's considered one of President Barrow's most trusted confidants and the pair has a long history. He mostly advises the Gambian leader on political issues and would likely continue in that capacity.
Seedy Njie
A former minister in the government of ex-president Yahya Jammeh, Seedy was instrumental in Barrow's decision to invite other political leaders to join his campaign. That helped him win the 2021 presidential election by a landslide.
Maimuna Ceesay
She's the NPP's diaspora secretary. Maimuna is one of the president's staunchest defenders and advocates.
Siaka Jatta
He's also another former UDP member in Barrow's circle. Siaka is one of the presidential advisers and founding members of the NPP. Before that, he was a refugee in the UK.
Maimuna Baldeh
She's not very popular among NPP grassroots supporters, but Maimuna is very close to the president. She's the NPP national women mobilizer and her husband is a permanent secretary in the government.
Musa Jeng
A former member of PDOIS, he joined Barrow's team after the disintegration of the 2016 coalition. Musa is also a presidential adviser.
Other people likely to help Barrow lead the country after his inauguration in January include Fatou Ceesay, Kebba Lang Fofana, Mambanyick Njie, Saihou Mballow and Unda Nyang.
